I. The War is Wrong: Repentance Is Necessary
The remedy for wrong-doing begins not only with the act of changing the path (stop funding war) but also with apology and repentance (in the Biblical sense repentance conveys a return to one’s highest self after one has gone astray and betrayed one’s
highest values).
II. Let the Arab League, the U.N. and International Peace Forces Replace U.S. and British Forces
The U.S. and Britain should withdraw all our forces as (an) Arab, Muslim and International force takes our place and conducts a plebiscite to allow the people to determine their own future. The U.S. should give our military bases to this force, and require that any U.S. corporation operating in Iraq give at least the majority of its profits to the task of Iraqi reconstruction.
III. Rebuild Iraq and Launch a Global Marshall Plan: Generosity Beats Domination as a Strategy for Homeland Security
The Global Marshall Plan we propose is a major step toward a Strategy of Generosity which is the key to rebuilding trust in the United States. It is this kind of generosity which is required by the Scriptures of all the Abrahamic religions and should be pursued not only because it helps increase American security and respect for America around the world, but because it is morally appropriate and religiously mandated.

A CHANGING TIDE ACROSS THE COUNTRY: Death Penalty Systems Under Scrutiny
• New Jersey’s Study Commission, after a year-long review found significant flaws in its death penalty system, including harmful impact of the appeals process on victims’ family members, the risk of executing the innocent, and its unfair application. The Commission recommended that NJ end its death penalty. More info: http://www.njadp.org/
• The Current Governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley, as well as a former Maryland Governor, Harry Hughes, are calling for abolition of MD’s death penalty. More info: http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/
• The Kentucky Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty has released the results of a poll showing 67.6% of Kentuckians favor a punishment other than death in aggravated murder cases. These results are available in its recent newsletter, ABOLITION NOW! AND THE LIST GOES ON.....
PUBLIC OPINION SHIFTING IN OHIO Now is a critical time in Ohio to let our voice be heard. In addition to the news listed above, there’s a national trend moving away from the use of the death penalty. The Death Penalty Information Center’s Year-End Report, in Ohio Only four death sentences were imposed in 2006; More than 85% of Ohio’s death penalty cases resulted in a sentence of life with parole instead of a death sentence.
Ohio needs to go further in examination of its death penalty system. It’s time for a study and a moratorium!

Human Trafficking - Issue Paper |
The Victims Of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000 defines human trafficking as ”the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for commercial sex, labor or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion, for the purpose of subjecting that person to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery.” About 700,000 to 2,000,000 persons, primarily women and children, are trafficked annually within or across international borders. An estimated 45,000 to 50,000 annually enter the United States.
Trafficked victims frequently come from less developed countries and are taken to more developed countries. They are often promised opportunity or employment by traffickers, only to be coerced into prostitution or involuntary servitude once away from home. Women and children are the key targets because of their marginalization, and limited economic resources. Traffickers use various forms of trickery (fraud, deception, and false marriage) and abuse (intimidation, threats, kidnapping, and physical abuse) to acquire and control victims. They are also lured by the promise of good working conditions and high pay, combined with the opportunity to escape oppressive poverty.
