Political Organizing
Our peace committee begins each meeting with political organizing for peace.
We focus on advancing the Before You Enlist Adopt a School efforts as well as the School Recruiter Policy efforts.
We also focus on what action we can take to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have hosted numerous teach-ins, rallies, protests, marches, and legislative meetings.
Currently, we are participating in the national Jobs Not Warfare campaign. To that end we are having brown bag lunches with Rep. Driehaus's staff the third Wednesday of the month to talk about ending the wars and funding jobs. We are asking for his support on specific legislative efforts towards those ends. People gather at IJPC (215 East 14th St.) at 11:30am.
On the third Friday of the month, there are Iraq-Afghanistan Moratorium Peace Vigils held.
Also, people can join the Women in Black witness weekly on Mondays at the corner of Vine St and Central Pkwy at 4:30pm.
